Ugo Chapele, a renowned sports journalist at Wazobia FM, known as ‘Suo The Queen of Sports,’ is pursuing justice at the Bode Thomas Magistrate Court in Lagos following a distressing incident.

The incident occurred as she was heading home after work when a motorist, identified as Wisdom Moses, along with his pregnant wife and brothers, allegedly assaulted her on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The altercation ensued after Moses reportedly collided with Chapele’s car from behind during a traffic slowdown caused by a breakdown on the road.

An eyewitness account revealed that Moses and his companions confronted Chapele aggressively, resulting in physical harm to her face and body.

The incident, witnessed by onlookers, led to the assailants being swiftly arraigned and remanded in custody, thanks to the intervention of street urchins and Lekki Concession Company operators who called the Maroko policemen.

Chapele, who gained recognition for her pidgin English match commentaries during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, expressed her hope for justice as the criminal case has been scheduled for March 11, 2023. Recounting the traumatizing experience, she highlighted deep cuts on her chest and neck, emphasizing the emotional toll the incident has taken on her.
