On Saturday, 9th of January, 2021, Student Media Personalities of Nigeria (SMPN) held the maiden edition of her annual Award tagged SMPN AWARD NITE 2020 to celebrate outstanding and amazing members with remarkable effort towards the growth of the organization.
In a statement released by the Convener, Mr. Anthony Dimnwaka of 32FM well known as Devoyce, “…It was a night that reminded me of how far we have come as an organization. Four years ago as a 200level student @unibadan right in my room B75 Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall! I made a decision to commit my life to helping students aspiring to become media practitioners live thier dreams! When I made this decision I had barely spent 4months on radio @petalsfm1023 but I knew there was a call to duty!
“Overtime God Blessed me with amazing men and women who supported me to bring that vision to life. The then UNIBADANOAPS Was formed in Feb 2016! It was then a platform for practicing and aspiring media students in the university of Ibadan! We focused on developing talents at various levels and across different facets of media, thanks to a lot of senior colleagues who assisted with different classes, practicals and workshops! I remember @afoudalafta32fm was our first guest he probably doesn’t remember…
“We evolved over time from an online platform to an actual student organization! With proper structures. We helped students bring their ideas to life, throught trainings, lots of internship and mentorship opportunities were provided for students to grow at ZERO cost!
“After a while I saw the need to expand the frontiers and reach out to more students across the country who needed a helping hand as regards building capacity and starting with their media careers. Yes we have masscom departments spread across various universities in the country but the SMPN experience is a unique one quite intimate!

SMPN with the mission to unite, train and equip aspiring student media personalities successfully has in no time flagged her wings to over 11 schools, 1 Polytechnic and 2 pre-schools in Nigeria.
