Yemi Sonde Media Group Holds Media Stakeholders’ Forum in Ibadan

The just concluded 7th edition of NBC/Yemi Sonde Broadcast Media Stakeholders’ Forum which was held at the Alumni Multi-Purpose Hall of the University of Ibadan was well attended by Broadcast Media Stakeholders all over to discuss extensively “The New Normal and National Security Challenges: The Need for Effective Broadcasting” the theme was splitted into three different topics with different paper presenters and discussants.

The forum convener, Mr Yemi Sonde who has been collaborating with the National Broadcasting Commission for the past 14 years was overwhelmed with joy with what the forum has done to the broadcasting industry in the past 14 years of collaborating with NBC and to recieve broadcast media stakeholders who came from far and near for the forum. He formally informed the media stakeholders present about the newly licenced YES! FM that will hit the airwaves soon.

The Director General of the NBC, Mallam Balarabe Shehu Ilelah who was ably represented by Dr Vincent Chibuike Ogwumike who is the Zonal Director, NBC Lagos Zonal Office set the tone of the forum.

The event was chaired by a veteran broadcaster and former Ambassador of Nigeria to the Phillipines and the great Cambordia, Ambassador Dr Yemi Farounbi.

The First Paper with the topic: “Media Convergence: Need for strategic reportage of security matters” was presented by a respected public relations guru and the Police Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Command, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu. While the second paper with the topic: “Catalyzing Insecurity through dramatization and embellishment of news stories” was presented by Mrs Bunmi Cole, former NBC Director and the then Zonal Director, Ibadan when the collaboration commenced.

The third paper with the topic: “Choice of music as panacea for social vices and violence” was presented by a foremost Nigerian Disc Jokey, Mr Bankole Ogunseye (DJ Banky).

The papers were critically discussed by media gurus ably chaired by Mr Olufemi Ayeni, a former NBC Director.
Also amongst the discussants were: Mr Dotun Saseyi, GM Petals FM Ibadan.
Mrs Bolatito Joseph, Deputy Director Programmes, Radio Nigeria South West.
Mr Femi Adefila, CEO Rave FM Osogbo.

The Ibadan Zone NBC Director, Mr Raphael Akpan was on his feets to ensure things were rightly placed.
