Southwest Professional Broadcasters Association visits radio stations in Ibadan on occasion of world radio day

The Southwest Professional Broadcasters Association had on Monday, the 13th of February 2023 paid a courtesy visit to some radio stations in Ibadan, capital of Oyo state on the occasion of world radio day.



The visit was aimed at commemorating the world radio day, promoting the theme for the UNESCO radio day which centers on “Radio and Peace” and also to applaud the effort of radio stations. As this year theme suggests, “It is only when we have peace among ourselves that we can use our radio programs to preach peace.”



The team was led by Samuel Ibikunle well known as “Arugboboisi”, who is a broadcast journalist with Fresh FM Nigeria, a culture enthusiast and historian.

According to the report reaching Primus Media City, the visit also aimed at expressing their congratulatory messages to her members, Afouda Samuel as he recently emerged Brand Curator of 32FM and also Aare Olabode Anisoloja; Olabode Rufai as the Head of Yoruba unit, programmes department of Agidigbo FM.

Samuel Ibikunle speaking on behalf of The Southwest Professional Broadcasters Association charged broadcasters and journalists to “”…seek peace among themselves by allowing collaboration and healthy competition, not allowing themselves to become puppet of politicians, causing division among listeners or using their shows for political rivalry.

” We are association of friends, like-minds, experienced, of same age bracket and professionals across southwest to share thoughts, ideas, network and socialize within ourselves to make the work more lucrative and to set a sterling examples for our successors.”

“The association cut across radio stations across South West Nigeria and consist of A list Broadcasters from general managers to head of stations, head of units and leading hands in the industry

“The association is not in any way to rival or compete with already established NUJ or FIBAN.
Its just a committee of friends and colleagues across South West Nigeria” He added.

Broadcasters in this train of visit includes, Akinsoji Appear, Sheriff ibrahim, Tobiloba Ogunsina wokilumo, Temilade Aloko, Emmanuel Ibikunle Elereoba, Iskl Mustapha Arojinle
Yello sisi, Seun owoseeni, Tope Oduola OMM, Olabode Anisoloja, Yusuphy Grey, Afouda Samuel, Olajumoke Bello, Akorede Ayedun, Sporting Crystal, Faysol oluwakemi. Radio stations visited were the likes of Agidigbo 88.7 FM, 101.7 YES FM and 32FM 94.9 in Ibadan, Oyo state.
