The Chairman of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria ( FIBAN) and also the CEO of Salt Radio Ibadan, Seun Awodele on Friday, 11th June, 2021 narrowly escaped being robbed by a group of gangsters along the popular Premier Hotel road in Ibadan the Oyo State capital.
According to the release by his media aide, Amb. Taiwo Oguntoye, the incident occurred at about 2:45pm while he was driving in company of his team to keep to a 3pm appointment. After ascending the hill leading to Premier Hotel from the dandanru Amotekun office area office.
According to the statement, “We were driving along the Premier Hotel road , just after leaving the cultural centre junction while ascending the hill, a group of gangsters operating on commercial motorcycle known as okada who had already stopped about three cars made attempt to stop us but Com. ‘Seun Awodele quickly maneuvered the steering in a swift drive hitting one of the guys and escaped the scene by the grace of God”.
He later stopped at the front of Premier Hotel gate to raise some awareness to motorists on the road but not satisfied with that, had to turn back immediately but unfortunately the guys had left the scene.
He however headed to the Amotekun office to register a formal complain and immediately the Amotekun squad made a pursue but unfortunately couldn’t get hold of the gangsters. He therefore commended the action of the Amotekun who moved into action immediately.
He further called on security operatives in the state to look into that volatile area of Ibadan as there has been several reports.
