5 Physically Challenged On-Air Personalities on Southwest Nigeria Radio

The media world is often celebrated for its professionalism and inclusivity, recognizing talent beyond physical limitations.

In a society where physically challenged individuals face challenges like societal stigma and inadequate infrastructure, some have refused to let their disabilities define them. Instead, they have carved a niche for themselves, proving that passion and resilience can break any barrier.

Most importantly, Primus also applauds the management of those radio stations who have deemed it fit to give individuals with disabilities the opportunity to exhibit their passions.

This feature story shines a spotlight on five inspiring physically challenged On-Air Personalities (OAPs) in Southwest Nigeria.

AFEEZ ABIOLA BABALOLA (Kàkàkí Presenter)


Afeez Abiola Babalola, popularly known as the Kàkàkí Presenter, has become a voice on radio despite being visually impaired. His captivating programs, OGO AKANDA and IRO IDUNU, air on Tungba FM and Salim 92.3 FM Ikirun, respectively. With his eloquence and in-depth storytelling, he connects deeply with Yoruba-speaking audiences, offering enlightenment and entertainment in equal measure.



SEGUN OLADEJO (Famous Presenter)


Segun Oladejo, also known as the Famous Presenter, is a force to reckon with in the radio industry. His show, EYANBITIWA, airs on Crowther 88.5 FM (Thursdays) and Dynasty 89.9 FM Oyo (Tuesdays), while OHUN EMI is broadcast on Crowther 88.5 FM every Sunday. Through his programs, he educates and uplifts his audience, proving that visual impairment is no barrier to excellence in media.



AKINYEMI ADEGBEMI JELILI (Akanda Oba Ewi Aniyikaye Presenter)


Akinyemi Adegbemi Jelili has made a name for himself on Gut 104.9 FM, where he delivers powerful Yoruba presentations. His deep knowledge of culture, traditions, and current affairs has made him a household name. He uses his platform to not only entertain but also inspire listeners, showing that physical limitations do not define one’s capabilities.

STEPHEN AJALA (Apostle Ori Afefe)

Stephen Ajala, widely known as Apostle Ori Afefe, is a voice of wisdom and inspiration on Ijinle Radio Vision, Ogijo, Sagamu, Ogun State. His programs, Ijinle Akanda and Edun Okan, air on Thursdays, addressing both social and spiritual issues. Despite his visual impairment, he has built a strong connection with his audience, proving that true vision lies in one’s ability to impact lives.



MUHEEZ ABDULSALAM (Omo Ologo)


Muheez Abdulsalam, popularly called Omo Ologo, is a dynamic presenter on Omoluabi FM 87.7 Ibadan. His program, Lawujo Akanda, which airs on Sundays, is a platform for discussion, empowerment, and cultural education. His journey is a testament to resilience, showing that disabilities cannot hinder talent and determination.
