Space FM Chairman, Deji Osibogun Loses Mother

NIGERIA’S FIRST TRAINED COSMETOLOGIST & MANUFACTURER OF CLARISSA HAIR POMADE PASSES ON AT 94

The death of the first trained cosmetologist and manufacturer of popular ‘CLARISSA’ hair pomade has occured in Ibadan.

According to one of her  children, the Chairman of Space Network and notable Prince in  Ijebuland, Otunba Giwa Ayodeji Osibogun, who broke the sad news to the media.

“At exactly 12 noon 15th July 2022, Chief Mrs Olayinka Abiodun Osibogun-Wright, manufacturer of popular hair pomade ‘Clarissa’ in the 50s, 60s and 70s in Nigeria passed on in her sleep at her residence, 18, Are avenue, New Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State.  She is survived by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

“In her lifetime, Chief (Mrs) Olayinka Abiodun Osibogun-Wright was a staunch member of the Chapel of Resurrection, a decorated Anglican and member of the choir for over fifty (50) years. 

“She was a well known Ibadan business woman who plied her trade at the old ‘Gbagi’ alongside Chief (Mrs) Awolowo, Chief (Mrs) Akikugbe and others.

“She was a descendant of the great Wright family and kinoshi family of Egbaland.  Her ancestors were the first set of freed slaves returned to Nigeria with the changed name ‘Thomas Benjamin Wright’ (reverened in the CMS Anglican communion).

“She is a descendant of the ruling family, Fusengbuwa/ Tuwase royal family in Ijebuland.  She is also a descendant of the Mosene Elewala family of Ikorodu where she is related to Chief(Mrs) Folake Solanke (the matriarch of the Nigerian Bar Association).

“Chief (Mrs) Olayinka Abiodun Osibogun-Wright was a seasoned philanthropist who cared for the poor, gave to the poor and lived her life for the poor.

“In Are avenue, she was popularly known as a one-woman vigilante because she ensured that security prevailed in that area for as long as she lived.

“She will be fondly remembered by the entire Ibadan community, Ikorodu community, Lagos community, Ijebu community and the Egba community(where she hailed from the Ijeun quarters in Abeokuta).

As at press time, burial and funeral arrangements is yet to be made known to the general public.
