Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has urged the state’s security agencies to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the tragic demise of 27-year-old online journalist, Yusuf Mubaarak. Mubaarak was reported missing on Wednesday and tragically discovered deceased on Saturday in the Unity Road Area of Ilorin.
His final rites were solemnly observed on Saturday evening in his hometown of Ilorin, where friends, colleagues, and associates gathered to pay their respects.
Through his press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor extended his sincere condolences to the bereaved family and friends, emphasizing the commitment to a thorough investigation of the incident.
AbdulRazaq strongly condemned those responsible for Mubaarak’s demise and called for swift action in identifying and bringing them to justice, stating, “Every effort must be made to ensure justice for Mubaarak and his family. We implore law enforcement agencies to leave no stone unturned in unraveling the circumstances surrounding this tragic loss.”
Former Governor Bukola Saraki also expressed his distress upon learning of Yusuf Mubarak’s untimely death and joined the call for a thorough investigation. He stressed the importance of addressing the security challenges in the state and the nation to safeguard the lives of young people.
