Radio Nigeria Staff Kayode Babatuyi Becomes Ekiti NUJ Chairman


…promises to build on pass achievements


A new set of Executives who will pilot the affairs of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council for the next three years have been inaugurated.

They are Mr Kayode Babatuyi as Chairman, Mr Yinka Ilori-Vice Chairman, Mr Seun Ogunsakin-Secretary, Victor Akinkuolie-Assistant Secretary, Lawrence Ibitoye-Financial Secretary, Mr Abidemi Sikiru as Treasurer and Mrs Olubunmi Ibiteye as Auditor.



In his acceptance speech, after taking oath of office, the new Chairman of NUJ in Ekiti State, Mr Kayode Babatuyi who is a staff of Radio Nigeria, progress FM, Ado Ekiti promised to continue from where the outgone Executives stopped in order to give the union a facelift.

Mr Babatuyi however made some appointments and set up three committees to help his administration to achieve the desired success.

The outgone NUJ Chairman in Ekiti state, Mr Rotimi Ojomoyela appreciated God for giving him the grace to complete his administration with great achievements.



Mr Ojomoyela listed some of the achievements of his tenure to include unity among members, obtaining certificate of occupancy of the union land, renovation of the Secretariat, building of a block of classroom for IIJ, peaceful transition of power to another Executives, among others.

The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Chief Chris Iziguzo, represented by the National Vice President B zone, Mrs Ronke Samo charged the new Executives to be united for the union to succeed, urging them to fair to all Journalists in the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode to build on the good foundation laid by the outgone administration.

The Commissioner for Information, Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun expressed optimism in the ability of the new leadership of NUJ to make the profession great, while promising the support of the state government for the union.

The Chairman, Trade Union Congress in Ekiti state, Mr Sola Adigun urged the NUJ Executives not to betray the trust the members have in them.
