The 3rd International Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Association of Media and Communication Researchers of Nigeria will be X-raying the roles of the media in governance.
AMCRON President, Prof. Eserinune Mojaye, during a pre-conference press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, stated that the planning committee had already received over 60 abstracts for the conference.
According to Mojaye, the two-day conference with the theme “Communication, Mass Media & Governance in Africa: Trajectories, Expectations and Realities” would be held between December 6 and 7, 2023, at Biodun Shobanjo Centre of Excellence in Multimedia Technology and Cinematography, Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos.
He said, “I am delighted to report that the response to our call for papers has been overwhelming. Abstracts interrogating diverse sub-themes of the conference were sent in from numerous scholars spread across the various universities and polytechnics in Nigeria, South Africa, and Ghana.
Speaking, the Chairman of the planning committee, Prof. Tejumaiye Adepoju, said that all arrangements had been perfected to ensure a successful outing.
According to him, the conference is designed to interrogate the role of the media in addressing discordant tunes among players in governance.
He emphasised on the recent happenings regarding governance in Africa with the observation that communication between the government and the governed appears to be challenged.
