In a recent personal reflection, Adedamola Tinubu, General Manager of Premier FM Ibadan, shared pivotal moments from his early career in broadcasting.
Tinubu recalled his journey of finding his professional footing, beginning with an unplanned yet transformative audition that would eventually set him on the path to success.
The story takes readers back to his early days at the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) in Osogbo, where a visit to the office of a senior engineer led to an unexpected opportunity.
Accompanied by his father, Tinubu met Engineer Ayegoro, who introduced him to Mr. Foluso Adedigba, the then Head of Programmes. Without any formal preparation, Adedigba conducted an impromptu audition, assessing Tinubu’s potential as an On-Air Personality for the corporation’s television service. Within minutes, Tinubu was deemed fit for the role, marking the start of his broadcasting career.
Reflecting on his early training, Tinubu recalled working closely with mentors such as Sola Bolaji and Sade Odunlade. Despite being a novice, his supervisors soon entrusted him with a critical responsibility—running a television shift solo.
Tinubu admitted to feeling a rush of anxiety ahead of the assignment, but he pushed through, unsure of how it would turn out. To his relief, his performance was a success, and his confidence in the field began to grow.
As Tinubu reflects on his broadcasting career, he invites his audience to follow his ongoing series, where he plans to chronicle more lessons and experiences from his journey. In his own words: “You never know what you can do until you do it. So, just do it
