Ajibola Akinyefa Reacts over Internal Power Struggle at Ilaji FM

Ajibola Akinyefa, a seasoned broadcaster, has spoken out about the circumstances surrounding his forced resignation from Ilaji FM.

Despite his contributions, according to him, which included reviving a struggling station, overseeing infrastructure development, and assembling a management team for a structured six-month program—all without financial compensation—Akinyefa was pushed out due to internal politics.

Akinyefa revealed that he stepped down from his previous role to avoid conflicts of interest, trusting in assurances from stakeholders involved in the new project.

However, his tenure was soon disrupted by the actions of a consultant who allegedly sought to discredit him and replace him with a favored candidate.

According to him, “I will not remember the harsh words of my adversaries, but the silence of my friends.

“Despite rejuvenating a moribund station, supervising the construction and importation of broadcasting equipment, and building a management team for a six-month programmed schedule – all without financial compensation, but driven by a sense of ownership and accountability – I was forced to resign from my previous appointment due to its close proximity to the new project, even without a job offer.

“Trusting in promises, I took the leap, only to have a consultant undermine my efforts, seeking to discredit me and push me and my team out. The consultant’s actions were motivated by a desire to secure my position for someone close to them.

“They sacked my team members without inquiry, demoted me from General Manager to Head of Station, and even threatened to relocate me from the GM’s office to a general office in my absence.

“I commit these injustices to everyone’s conscience and to God.” He concluded.
