A newly established radio station in Ibadan is facing criticism for its amateur graphics and, more notably, the poor English used in its social media posts.
A concerned media practitioner, Tobiloba Ogunsina, well known as “Wokilumo,” has publicly called out the station for what he described as a “public embarrassment.”
In a post circulating online, Wokilumo expressed his dismay at the station’s recent Facebook update showcasing its new talents. He highlighted the grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, suggesting that the station’s social media manager is struggling with the English language.
“For weeks now, I have personally restrained myself from writing about this public embarrassment the station is causing itself,” Wokilumo wrote. “But this afternoon, upon reading the short profile of the latest signings of the Station posted on its Official Facebook page, I can’t but scream.”
Wokilumo pointed out the irony of the situation, noting that the station reportedly hired a General Manager from Ibadan. “If you can afford to hire a GM all the way from Felelelelele,” they questioned, “you should be able to hire a good Social Media manager that can communicate properly in English language.”
The post also included a plea to the radio station’s management, urging them to address the issue. Read the full post below.

The radio station’s management has yet to publicly respond to the criticism. It remains to be seen whether they will take steps to improve their social media presence and address the concerns raised by Wokilumo and other members of the community.
