I-Flier FM’s Samson Omotosho to Host TAVI 3.0 Mental Health Conference

The Avalanche Initiative (TAVI) is gearing up for its third edition of Mental Health Conference TAVI 3.0, scheduled to take place on October 10th, 2024, at Centre E99 in Ibadan. This socio-cultural and mental health initiative, founded by respected broadcast journalist Samson Omotosho, aims to address Nigeria’s lingering socio-mental health issues. Since its inception in 2022, TAVI has made a significant impact, saving over 500 young individuals from addiction-related deaths.

The upcoming event will feature discussions and panel sessions centered around the theme *”Mental Health is a Universal Human Right: Drug Evidence is clear; Invest In Prevention and Raise Awareness”*. Notable attendees include Oyo State governor’s aides, such as Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Prof. Salihu Adelabu and Commissioner for Health Dr. Adewumi Ajetunmobi, as well as experts from the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and other organizations.

Omotosho emphasized TAVI’s mission to provide solutions to socio-mental health challenges, particularly among young adults. Through his media presence and partnerships with NGOs, he has successfully created awareness and bridged the gap between young people and society. His ultimate goal is to positively impact 2 million young Nigerians, reducing mental health challenges through identification, transformation, and reintegration.

TAVI’s efforts align with the growing need for mental health support in Nigeria, where 20-30% of the population suffers from mental illness. Organizations like Sure Hope Counseling Clinic, Asido Foundation, Kick Out Suicide Initiative (KOSI) and Goodworker Ministry International (GMi) are also working to improve mental health in Nigeria, providing services such as counseling, training, and advocacy.
