CJID Wraps Up Training for Danfodiyo University Campus Journalists, Mass Communication Students

The Centre for Journalism, Innovation and Development (CJID) successfully completed a four-day training program for campus journalists and Mass Communication students at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS). This training, a part of the Campus Reporter project, equipped participants with skills in evidence-based reporting, accountability journalism, and news editing from October 16th to 19th, 2023.

Iretomiwa Dele-Yusuff, the project officer of CJID, emphasized the significance of this initiative in promoting media sustainability and enhancing the capabilities of journalists reporting on campus. She mentioned that the engagement and receptiveness of the students and campus journalists contributed to bridging knowledge gaps among the participants.

Abdulwasiu Olokooba, the President of the National Association of Campus Journalists (NACJ), expressed his fulfillment at hosting this training, highlighting the challenges they overcame to make it a reality.

Tasi’u Aminu, a 200-level Agriculture student and a participant, described the training as insightful and a golden opportunity, particularly emphasizing the importance of source mapping in journalism.

Khadijat Sewedo, another participant, noted that the training went beyond journalism, providing valuable life lessons.

Aisha Kamaldeen Temilolu, a Mass Communication student, praised the educational and engaging nature of the program, as well as the knowledgeable and passionate facilitators who made it a valuable experience.
